The Barman/Server is a dual-role position at our Japanese fine dining restaurant, responsible for expertly preparing and serving a wide range of beverages (including Japanese spirits and cocktails) and providing impeccable tableside service. This role requires embodying Omotenashi (Japanese hospitality), deep knowledge of Japanese cuisine and beverage pairings, and upholding the highest standards of service and presentation.

Key Responsibilities (Summarized):

  • Bar Operations: Prepare and serve diverse beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), maintain extensive knowledge of sake and spirits, ensure a clean and stocked bar, assist with inventory, and handle cash transactions accurately, all while adhering to hygiene and safety regulations.
  • Dining Room Service: Warmly greet and seat guests, possess comprehensive menu knowledge (food and beverage), accurately take and serve orders, maintain immaculate tables, anticipate guest needs, process payments efficiently, and perform closing duties.
  • General & Teamwork: Collaborate seamlessly with all staff, communicate effectively, consistently uphold high service and hygiene standards, professionally resolve guest concerns, and commit to continuous learning in Japanese cuisine, beverages, and service techniques.

Qualifications (Summarized):

  • Education & Experience: High school diploma required; Hospitality/Culinary/Bartending certification/degree is a plus. Minimum 2-3 years of proven experience as a Barman/Bartender and/or Server in a fine dining setting, with a strong preference for Japanese restaurant experience.
  • Skills & Knowledge: Exceptional customer service, bartending proficiency, in-depth knowledge of Japanese spirits/sake/cuisine, excellent English communication (Japanese a plus), meticulous attention to detail, POS system familiarity, strong teamwork and problem-solving abilities, physical stamina, and cultural sensitivity to Japanese hospitality.

Working Conditions:

  • May involve exposure to loud noise, hot/cold temperatures, and wet floors.
