Code Enforcement Inspector

As an Inspector, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our city's codes and regulations are upheld, promoting the health, safety, and welfare of our citizens. This position requires a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to effectively communicate and enforce regulations. Conduct regular inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial properties to ensure compliance with city codes and regulations. Investigate complaints and reports of potential code violations and take appropriate action to resolve issues. Communicate with property owners, tenants, and other relevant parties to address code violations and educate them on compliance requirements. Enforce city codes and regulations through the issuance of citations, warnings, and notices of violation. Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, violations, and enforcement actions. Collaborate with other city departments, law enforcement, and community organizations to address complex or ongoing code enforcement issues. Participate in training and education opportunities to stay current on city codes and regulations. Provide excellent customer service to residents and businesses, responding to inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner. Assist in the development and implementation of new code enforcement policies and procedures. Continuously evaluate and improve code enforcement processes to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Represent the City of San Jose and the Code Enforcement division in a positive and professional manner. Adhere to ethical standards and maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job. Report any hazardous or dangerous conditions to the appropriate authorities. Maintain a positive working relationship with colleagues and supervisors, promoting a team-oriented work environment.
