The role

You will apply hands-on private equity and finance experience to review documents, evaluate AI-generated outputs, and create scenario-based training content grounded in real PE workflows. The work centers on deal sourcing, due diligence, portfolio management, and interpreting complex financial documents.

What you'll do

Daily tasks blend subject-matter review with annotation and content creation to improve model performance on private equity tasks.

  • Review and analyze investment memos, case studies, and financial models for AI training purposes.
  • Assess AI-generated outputs for accuracy, commercial awareness, and relevance to private equity workflows.
  • Create scenario-based content grounded in real private equity decision-making (deal sourcing, due diligence, exits, portfolio management).
  • Define and document best practices for interpreting complex financial documents for labelers and model evaluators.
  • Contribute expert knowledge to improve labels, rubrics, and evaluation criteria used in training datasets.

Requirements

Candidates must meet the core technical and domain expectations below. We will not invent qualifications—your application should demonstrate the experience listed.

  • Extensive hands-on experience in private equity, investment banking, or closely related finance roles.
  • Strong knowledge of deal structuring, due diligence, valuation, and exit strategies.
  • Proven ability to interpret complex financial data with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for explaining investment decisions and labeling rationale.
  • English language fluency required.

Preferred qualifications and experience

These items are desirable but not strictly required unless stated elsewhere in the listing.

  • MBA, CFA, or similar advanced degree or certification preferred.
  • Experience mentoring or training junior finance professionals is a plus.
  • Direct experience producing or reviewing financial models and valuation work for transactions.

Labeling tasks, tools, and data

Work focuses on document-based annotation and evaluation to train finance-focused models. Expect a mix of rating tasks and text-generation evaluation.

OpenTrain will provide labeling instructions, rubrics, and access to the annotation interface; specific software details will be supplied during onboarding.

Compensation, scheduling, and applying

Compensation is hourly, with rates ranging from $30 to $65 per hour and up to $65/hr as listed. This is a contractor, part-time role; you choose hours but should plan for 20+ hours/week.
