SALES CLERK

Area of Assignment: Mactan Marina Mall

The Sales Clerk is responsible for assisting customers with product inquiries, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the bakery’s retail space, and supporting the cashier and store supervisor in daily store operations. This position also plays a role in monitoring and recording inventory levels of products and supplies. In a bakery and pension house business, the Sales Associate may also assist with basic guest inquiries and coordination between departments to ensure efficient customer service.

RESPONSIBILITIES

CUSTOMER SERVICE & SALES SUPPORT

  • Greets customers and assists them in selecting bakery items based on their preferences or needs.
  • Provides product information including ingredients, shelf life, and available stock.
  • Answers basic inquiries from pension house guests or direct them to appropriate personnel.
  • Notifies the cashier when customers are ready to complete their purchase.

CASHIER AND STORE OPERATIONS SUPPORT

  • Assists the cashier in preparing packaging materials, bags, and change as needed.
  • Helps manage customer flow at the counter during peak hours.
  • Supports the cashier in organizing receipts, order lists, and customer pickup items.

INVENTORY AND STOCK MONITORING

1. Assists in receiving, unpacking, and organizing deliveries and restocking shelves.

2. Participates in daily and periodic inventory counts of bakery items, packaging materials, and supplies.

3. Monitors stock rotation (first-in, first-out) and reports near-expiry or damaged items to the immediate superior.

4. Maintains proper labeling and organization of stocks in storage areas.

CLEANLINESS AND MAINTENANCE

  • Keeps the sales area, display counters, and product shelves clean and presentable.
  • Ensures hygiene standards are maintained in line with food safety regulations.
  • Disposes of waste properly and keeps work areas tidy throughout the shift.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school graduate or equivalent.

2. Previous experience in retail, food service, or hospitality is preferred.

3. Friendly demeanor, with good communication and interpersonal skills.

4. Attention to detail and willingness to learn basic product handling and inventory procedures.

5. Willing to be assigned to a 24-hour store and work on a shifting schedule.

6. Physically able to stand for long hours and carry light to moderate loads.
