Urban Light Wellness Center is a growing multidisciplinary wellness practice dedicated to helping individuals achieve greater emotional, mental, and physical well-being. We believe in treating the whole person by integrating therapy, mindfulness, movement, nutrition, education, and wellness services in a compassionate and welcoming environment.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Virtual Yoga or Mat Pilates Instructor to join our team and help clients improve their overall wellness through movement, mindfulness, strength, flexibility, breathwork, and relaxation.

Position Summary

This is a fully remote independent contractor position. The Virtual Yoga or Mat Pilates Instructor will lead live online classes for individuals and groups while creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for participants of all fitness levels and abilities.

The instructor will have the flexibility to build a caseload through referrals provided by Urban Light Wellness Center while also having the opportunity to promote classes and attract additional participants through community outreach and networking.

Responsibilities

The instructor will:

Lead engaging live virtual Yoga and/or Mat Pilates classes.
Design safe, effective, and inclusive classes for beginners through intermediate participants.
Modify movements and poses to accommodate varying fitness levels, physical limitations, and experience.
Incorporate breathwork, mindfulness, stretching, relaxation, and body awareness techniques when appropriate.
Develop specialty classes such as:
Gentle Yoga
Beginner Yoga
Trauma-Informed Yoga
Chair Yoga
Restorative Yoga
Yoga for Anxiety & Stress Reduction
Beginner Mat Pilates
Core & Stability Pilates
Stretch & Mobility
Mindfulness & Movement
Foster a welcoming, supportive, and judgment-free environment.
Collaborate with Urban Light Wellness Center to develop wellness programming and virtual workshops.
Maintain attendance records and any required documentation.
Participate in occasional virtual wellness events hosted by the practice.
Professionally market services and assist in growing the virtual wellness program.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess one of the following:

Completion of a minimum 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training from a recognized yoga teacher training program; or
A recognized Mat Pilates Instructor Certification from a reputable training organization.

Preferred qualifications include:

Yoga Alliance RYT-200 or higher.
Trauma-informed yoga or movement training.
Certification in both Yoga and Mat Pilates.
Experience teaching live virtual classes.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to safely modify exercises for individuals of varying abilities.
Current CPR/AED certification preferred.

Independent Contractor Requirements

The selected contractor must maintain:

Active professional liability insurance appropriate for yoga and/or Pilates instruction.
Current certifications and credentials applicable to the services being provided.
Reliable computer or laptop.
High-speed internet.
A quiet, professional, and distraction-free space suitable for conducting live virtual classes.
Responsibility for all continuing education, certification renewals, taxes, and business expenses associated with independent contractor status.

Schedule

This is a flexible independent contractor position.

No guaranteed hours.
Instructors determine their availability in collaboration with Urban Light Wellness Center.
Classes may be offered during daytime, evening, or weekend hours based on client demand.
Caseload develops over time through practice referrals and instructor marketing efforts.

Compensation

Compensation is based on an 80/20 revenue split, with the instructor receiving 80% of collected revenue for services provided and Urban Light Wellness Center retaining 20% to support scheduling, administrative services, marketing, technology, and overall practice operations.
